Understanding the Rotella family
Shell’s official Rotella range includes T4, T5, and T6 product families. These are distinct products with their own grades and specifications. The correct choice begins with the vehicle’s requirements and the product available at your chosen location.
For example, Shell’s T6 information describes full synthetic diesel oils developed for wear and sludge protection and performance in demanding temperatures. Those characteristics do not make every Rotella product interchangeable.

Oil capacity and included service
Our full-service overview includes a new oil filter and practical vehicle checks with an oil change. The listed oil allowance is up to five quarts; larger capacities carry an additional charge. Ask your chosen shop to confirm the diesel oil quantity, filter, and service details for your engine.
When service is recommended
We recommend a Shell Rotella diesel oil change every 5,000 miles. Tell the team about towing, extended idling, or other demanding use so your vehicle’s maintenance requirements can be reviewed. Keep your service records for the next visit.
