Transmission Service
Support smooth, reliable transmission operation.
Transmission service replaces old fluid to support smooth operation. The fluid and service method are checked for compatibility with your transmission.
The fluid’s role
Pennzoil’s automatic transmission fluid guidance explains that ATF lubricates internal clutches, gears, and bearings. It also works as hydraulic fluid, helps transfer power through a torque converter, and carries heat away from transmission components. Maintaining the specified fluid supports these functions.
Select by transmission specification
Pennzoil lists multiple ATF and CVT formulations and emphasizes the importance of meeting the vehicle manufacturer’s requirements. Similar-looking vehicles can use different transmissions and fluids. Ask our team to confirm the appropriate product and service for your year, model, and transmission.
Review concerns before service
Tell the team about unusual shifting, noises, or other changes in operation. These concerns can require assessment beyond routine fluid replacement. Service history is also useful when reviewing whether a scheduled fluid service is appropriate.
When service is recommended
We recommend transmission service every 30,000–60,000 miles. Your transmission’s fluid specification and the vehicle’s maintenance requirements still guide the appropriate service. You can also explore our differential and transfer case services for other drivetrain maintenance items.
